Scornado — Privacy Policy
This privacy policy applies to the SCORNADO app ("the App") on Android and iOS.
1. Who is responsible for your data (the controller)
SCORNADO is published by:
SMDS Solutions — a subsidiary of 10000 Suns bv
Registered office at Sanderusstraat 9, 2018 Antwerpen, Belgium
hello (at) smds.be
Enterprise number: BE 0788.948.312
VAT Identification Number: BE 0788.948.312
2. In short
The App shows no ads and contains no analytics, tracking or crash reporting software.
You do not need an account.
Everything you enter stays on your device. We receive none of it.
Something only leaves your device when you share it, and only with whom you choose. If you use SCORNADO on a watch, your watch gets what it needs for the match in progress (see 3).
3. Information the App uses
The App stores on your device what you enter yourself:
Clubs and teams: name, short name, colours.
Players: first name, last name and optionally a shirt number.
Matches: opponent, date and time, home or away, match type, location, notes, squad, goals with minute, scorer and assist, and whether a goal came from a corner or a free kick.
Penalties after the match (football): per player of your team whether they scored, missed or were absent, and for the opponent only how many penalties went in and how many did not.
Tennis and padel: yourself and your opponents as persons (two names per side in doubles, and always in padel), the points of a match with who served, and the labels you may give a point (ace, double fault, winner, error).
Settings: chosen sport, theme, language, default match length and the like.
This data lives in a database inside the App on your device. We have no access to it.
When you share something. You can share a result as text, a match or season report as PDF, or a backup as a file through your device's share sheet, to the app and recipient you choose (for example a messaging app, email or a storage service). From then on, the terms and privacy policy of that app or service apply. A backup contains all your data from the App, including player names: store and share it with care.
With a watch. If you also use SCORNADO on a Wear OS watch, the App sends that watch what its scoreboard needs: the team names, the colours, the score, the clock and of the players only the shirt number and the first name (no last names). In tennis and padel, those are the names of the players on both sides, as you entered them, and the score (points, games, sets and who serves). The watch sends back what you tap there (a goal or point, the scorer, a label, the clock). This traffic runs through Google Play services between your own phone and watch, usually directly over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. When they are not directly connected, Google Play services may route the messages, encrypted, through Google's servers. We receive none of it. The watch keeps no database: after the match everything is only on your phone.
Device backups.
Android: the App is excluded from Android's automatic cloud backup. When you transfer data directly to a new device (Android 12 and later), it can move along. On Android 11 and earlier the device makes no automatic backup of the App. To keep your data elsewhere, use the backup feature in the App.
iPhone and iPad: a backup of the whole device through iCloud or a computer may include the App's data. You control this in your device settings, and it falls under Apple's policies.
4. Permissions the App requests, and why
The App itself does not use the internet: everything you enter stays on your device. On Android the App does contain these permissions. For Google Play's payment module (Google Play Billing Library), which handles your SCORNADO Pro subscription:
com.android.vending.BILLING: making in-app purchases through Google Play;android.permission.INTERNETandandroid.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: the payment module uses a Google component (Google Data Transport) that needs an internet connection and checks whether one is available.
Without these permissions you cannot subscribe to Pro.
For the watch (see 3):
android.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICEandandroid.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE_CONNECTED_DEVICE: during a match with a watch the App stays active with a notification ("Match in progress"), so what you tap on the watch reaches your phone, also when it is in your pocket;android.permission.CHANGE_NETWORK_STATE: required by Android 14 and later for such an active service for a connected device; the App itself changes nothing with it;android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS: showing that notification, and "Match ended" after a match you ended on the watch. The App only asks for it when you first use a watch; you may refuse, the watch keeps working.
When you pick a backup file to restore, your device's file picker opens; the App only gets access to the file you choose.
5. Services the App contacts over the internet
The App itself does not connect to the internet and sends no data to us or to third parties. With a watch, the data from 3 goes to your own watch through Google Play services. The payment module of Google Play or the App Store does: it handles your subscription and may send technical data about the use of the payment module (such as the course of a purchase and error reports) to Google or Apple. What you enter in the App, such as player names, never ends up there. Google and Apple process that data under their own privacy policies.
Subscriptions. You subscribe to SCORNADO Pro through Google Play or the App Store. Payment is handled entirely by Google or Apple. To subscribe, restore or check a subscription, the App communicates with the store app on your device; the App only learns whether there is an active subscription. It keeps that on your device, so Pro also works without a connection. We receive no payment details. Google and Apple process data about your purchase under their own privacy policies.
6. Retention
Your data stays on your device until you delete it:
You delete a player, team or match in the App.
If you uninstall the App, all data on that device is removed. Make a backup first if you want to keep it.
When you restore a backup, the App briefly keeps the previous data on your device as a safety copy (the last three), so you can undo the restore.
We keep nothing, because we receive nothing.
7. Children's privacy
The App is meant for coaches, team managers and parents. Players are often minors. Their names stay on the device where they were entered; we do not collect or process them. Whoever enters or shares player names is responsible for doing so, for example by following the club's rules or obtaining parents' consent.
8. Your rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) you have, among others, the right to access, rectify and erase your personal data. Because we receive no personal data from you, we cannot access, correct or delete it: you do that yourself on your device. If you still have a question or complaint, contact us at hello (at) smds.be. You can also lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority, www.dataprotectionauthority.be, or the authority in your country.
9. International data transfers
We transfer no data, inside or outside the European Union. Google and Apple may process data about your subscription and about the use of their payment module outside the European Union as well, like the messages between phone and watch that Google Play services routes through Google's servers; that, and device backups through iCloud, are subject to Google's and Apple's terms.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, for example because the App gains a new feature, we publish the new version on this page with a new date. If something material changes about what happens to your data, we also announce it in the App.
